Hi Reader, You’ve probably heard of Jack LaLanne, one of the original voices in fitness long before it became an industry. He was doing pushups on national television when most of America had never even heard of a gym. What you may not know is that before he passed, Jack asked a fellow fitness professional to carry on his message of moving better, living longer, and never giving up on what your body can do. That person is Greg Justice—a friend of mine and someone who mentored me early in my corporate wellness journey. Greg is in his 60s now, and this week, he competed on American Ninja Warrior. He started training for the show when he was 59 years old. Think about that. At an age when most people are being told to slow down, he decided to level up. He called himself the "Old Dog New Trick Ninja", not because he was chasing a title, but because he believed deeply in the message that movement is for every body, at every age. Watching Greg take on the course this week was another example that health isn't about youth, or perfection, or doing things the way we always have. It’s about being willing to keep learning, keep trying, and keep moving—no matter where we’re starting from. Maybe that looks like a strength workout. Maybe it’s a short walk. Or simply starting again, just a little more committed than yesterday. You don’t have to do something flashy to do something meaningful. I’m honored to not just know Greg, but to have learned from him. He leads by example and I’m so proud of him for all of his accomplishments (old and new)! So here’s to the “old dogs,” the new tricks, and the next step on your journey. As Greg proved—it’s not about being the best, it’s about staying in the game. Make it a great Summer, – Coach Karen P.S. If this message resonates with you, I’d love for you to forward it to a friend, a coworker, or anyone who might need that little nudge to keep going. We’re all in this together. |
